Very excited about this one team.  Here is the latest box from Wines+Bites+Beats for you to get your laughing gear round. These wines have been carefully selected to be enjoyed with the best that Spring has to offer; mild evenings, lazy Sundays and hazy sunshine (ok that’s more of a dream scenario, but you catch my drift right?).  So, let’s dive into this rascal little box of liquid joy shall we?

Vinho Verde ‘Azal’ (Portugal)

Vinho Verde (meaning green wine) is a delightful drop of giggle juice that is deliberately bottle with an incy wincy bit of CO2, to give the wine a little tingle on the tongue.  I can’t tell you how pleased I am to have this in the box.  Aromas and flavours of white peach, lemon and grapefruit make this super fresh.  Serve banging cold with a bowl of salted almonds at midday.  Cos that’s when its best, some say.

Musita ‘Catarratto’ (Italy)

Wednesday evening slurper this tasty drop of white from Sicily.  Really slick, zest and easy to drink. Share this, cos it’ll go quicker than grease lightning through hot butter!

Basque Txakoli (Rueda)

The Txakoli (pronounced Chakolee) grape variety is pretty rare and you don’t really see it that much over here (well, the really premium and pricey stuff you do).  It’s really fresh but with some nice stoned fruit characters and aromas.  Lovely colour this too.  I enjoy this myself at least once a month at the moment with a nice bowl of spaghetti, garlic and onions and freshly grated Pecorino.

Bastion de la Cite Rose (France)

It may not quite yet be time for the pale pink of Provence, but by heck, its high time for a some Rose now that the sun has started looking through its hat collection.  A blend of the regions (Carcassonne, SW France) best known grape varieties make this recurrent, raspberry and floral laced drop of the pink stuff irresistible when the yellow rays of goodness show up.

Lorgeril Pinot Noir (France)

A stones throw away from where the above Rose is made.  This Pinot Noir, when I stated it for this box, supposed me with its lightness, yet flavour profile.  By that I mean that the fruit presence here is better than a lot of Pinot I have tasted in recent months.  Chuffed to get this into the box.  Enjoy with a crispy lamb salad, it boots!

Geoff Merrill ‘SGM’ (south Australia)

So here we are, the last wine of the box – its Big Geoff!  SGM (Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre) is a typical blend you’d find in the Rhone in France.  Here though in Mclaren Vale, it produces the most outrageously opulent red wines, suitable for only the greatest of Wines+Bites+Beats team members – that’s you!  Full to the rim with all the dark fruit flavours of Shiraz, the deep colour and spice from Grenache and savoury stuff from the Mourvedre.  Complimented with vanilla and silky tannins from the oak ageing.  B-E-A-utiful.

***Each box will be delivered with a full box description and food pairing ideas as well as a voucher for a discount on Wines+Bites+Beats Tasting Experiences upon resumption of these events (in line with UL Government guidance).
